I own a home in South Florida as well tainted with Chinese drywall. I was blessed to have Taishan which is a Chinese company who will barely respond in court. Long story short after trying to work it it out with B of A previously Countrywide and depleting checking, savings and 401 K to make payments and rent I started receiving notices of foreclosure. The bills were for missed payments, interest and fees. I had perfect credit, put a lot of money down and lost it all. I even paid bills on credit cards. I finally went to a bankruptcy atty. and claimed chapter 7. SCREW THEM ALL! How is it that they (the banks) get a tax payer BAIL OUT and then get to foreclose on our homes as well? That is getting paid twice isn't it? Shouldn't the govt. own these homes? They paid for them. I didn't have a 0 down loan. I qualified! I was screwed, but now I can move on with my life. My advice to people is see an atty. immediately- stop wasting your GOOD money trying to do the right thing because in the end you will still be screwed! Sorry, but the whole thing still gets me ...... ...!

I had a dream to begin my own company, but I did not have got enough amount of money to do it. Thank heaven my close fellow told to take the loans. Thus I used the consolidation loans and made real my desire.

I am sorry to hear about this problem and I hope and pray that the new homes being built by the same, large, Florida builders are Chinese Drywall free. How do you know that the government or state stepped in and destroyed or got rid of all the bad drywall? I am scared because I didn't research builders and we bought a brand new home in Orlando. Do Subcontractors in Florida still sneak this awful product into homes to cut costs or get rid of it? I wish I never heard of Chinese drywall but you wonder when you smell strange, pungent, gases in places with little ventilation in your new home. I even read there are hybrid homes. Can't subs who use dangerous, deadly, products be punished? Don't builders have to keep records on the products and manufacturers that they used when they built your home and the subcontractors who installed it? I watch new homes going up daily and there seems to be little supervision and many, many, subs used. I think they should be inspected for bad drywall before the insulation is blown into the attics by the county building inspectors. This would eliminate the problem for 2010 on. Please advise me or comment. Thank you.

I just bought a new home in 2010 from Centerline builders in Orlando. I am scared because in 6 months the ClosetMaid vinyl shelves with steel are deteriorating and smelling of gas vapors in the linen closet and pantry. I was told noone had any Chinese drywall to sneak into new homes anymore. Could substandard, subcontractors be getting rid of it in brand new homes today? I was scared because for the first time in 45 years I started getting bad headaches when I breathed in the gas every day in the master bath. I threw the sticky, discoloring, shelves outside and the smell went away. I am a little scared because the electric circuits have to be reset every week or I flip the switch to turn the fuse back on. The new flatscreens have red static in them occasionally and they are different brands. What made the shelves deteriorate? Please let me know if I am worrying for nothing. Did the government ban the use of these products and destroy them so they wont show up in brand new homes today? Thanks for the advice, I hate to worry. I didn't think to research the builder.

Hi guys, I’m the guy the contractors pick-up and drop off at your house to fix it.
You can fix your house for a fraction the quotes flying around and without tearing down the building, all you have to do is roll up your sleeves and do a little work yourself and a year from now drywall from china will be a bad fading memory.
Hanging drywall is so easy a child can do it, finishing drywall is a little trickier.

Ready? you’re going to need:
	1. A pickup truck/trailer or dumpster (U-Haul/WD)
	2. Drywall supplies, joint compound, tape, edge metal, drill, screws etc (home depot, Lowes etc.)
	3. Paint, paint supplies
	4. Vaccum, heavy duty fans, cleaning supplies.
	5. One hard worker (yourself?)

How to:
	1. Cover all tiles, vents etc, and label and remove light switches, baseboard, countertops, cabinets, mirrors, leave stuff like the kitchen hood, gas water heater etc hanging.
	2. Tear off all the drywall clean (soap and water people) the walls, studs, inspect the damage, if you got carpet it’s got to go.
	3. Hang drywall, finish the walls, PAINT, repair and return everything cabinets, switches, tiles, etc.
	4. Move in and forget.

A couple a gotcha's; this is all labor intensive a one floor 3000sqft bldg can take one hard working guy with an occasional helper working 40hrs/wk 6 months, someone’s got to watch the dumpster, aluminum and copper in the house, if you got electrical damage you MUST get a certified electrician/plumber, contractors will be like " the charge for installing insulation wasn’t included, I’m going to have to charge extra" and don’t forget to document all damage/take samples.

I am a struggling african artist (computer animation) I have been dry-walling for 7yrs and have done restoration from mold damage for a couple of years and if you’re in south florida for $17/hr I can help get you back in your crib in 6 months. Call 9548048268 Ill jumps on my bicycle and give you a hand.
